Four codefendants were arraigned on theft and burglary charges in Superior Court in Kenai Tuesday, after one defendant, Renee Miranda, turned herself in at the scene of the crime.

The alleged perpetrators face nine felony charges — three counts of first-degree burglary, five second-degree theft counts and one count of first-degree vehicle theft.

Attorneys entered pleas of not guilty to all counts for Miranda, 46 of Nikiski, Aaron Duvall, 25, Lee Graham, 49, and Candace Peterson, 24.

According to reports filed by Alaska State Troopers, Don Matthews called troopers on June 9 and told them his Nikiski home had been broken into while he was at work. Matthews told troopers his 2010 Ford pickup was missing along with 13 guns, ammunition, food, a computer, a chainsaw, a log splitter and other items — for a total value of about $50,000.

The reports state on July 16, Matthews told troopers Miranda had just walked up to his home and told him she had broken into the house with another woman, whom she refused to name. The charging documents allege Miranda said she broke a window to enter the home and stole food, the chainsaw and the log splitter. Miranda sold the chainsaw and the log splitter but would not tell troopers whom she sold the items to. She told troopers she took two other people to the house the next day, but also refused to name them.

A game camera that Matthews set up in his yard recorded three suspects taking items from his home and loading those things into his pickup.

An anonymous tip during the course of the investigation revealed the identity of the five others.

The next scheduled court date for Miranda, Duvall, Graham and Peterson is Sept. 9. All four are in custody at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

Summons were issued Monday for two other codefendants charged in the case, Chad Jones, 38, and Teslin Little, 21.

Superior Court arraignments for Jones and Little are set for Aug. 13.
